Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect
At any given time there tens of thousands of Mississippians living in nursing homes. Although most of these individuals are elderly, some are not. Injuries that leave a person in need of long term skilled nursing care can happen at any age. There are people who are in there forties who were victims of strokes, brain injuries or other injuries who are forced to live in nursing homes. Although most nursing homes have the patient’s best interest at heart, some nursing homes put making a huge profit above the patient’s care. These profit-driven nursing homes often neglect their residents due to under-staffing.
I have represented many families in nursing home abuse and neglect cases and have tried nursing home cases to jury verdicts. I have litigated cases against national nursing home chains such as Beverly Enterprises/ Golden Living Centers, individually owned nursing homes and nursing homes owned by governmental entities. I am familiar with federal and state regulations governing nursing homes and the rights of nursing home residents.
I believe that lawsuits against bad operators of nursing homes benefit all nursing home residents. When the bad operators are held responsible for their actions it leads to improved care for all nursing home residents. Families of victims of nursing home abuse and neglect should consider filing a lawsuit in order to lessen the chances of similar abuse and neglect to other nursing home residents.
If you feel like you or a loved one has been neglected or abused in a nursing home I would be happy to talk to you about the potential case.
