$225,000 Settlement for Nursing Home Bed Sore Victim

In 2009 Philip successfully settled a case against a Mississippi nursing home for $225,000. The settlement was on behalf of the family of a resident who suffered a Stage IV bed sore and severe weight loss as a result of neglect by the nursing home staff. During discovery we established fraudulent charting by the nursing staff. In addition, employees testified in depositions that the problems with charting were a known problem in the nursing home. In this case, the fraudulent charting concealed the fact that the resident had lost the ability to swallow, which caused her severe weight loss.
